Every year since Jared and I have been married we've spent our anniversary at Lake Powell with a group of our friends. This year, Jared worked the Tuesday after but we still left the Wednesday after and spent a good 4 or 5 days there. It was a blast as always.
Annie was easier than we thought she would be. She would NOT let us remove her life jacket and was terrified of the water. Which was hard since her poor skin would get heat rash and the only way to cool down was to get in the water. She did not enjoy being dunked...
It seems a yearly tradition to out beat the year before's bonfire. Since the water was so high this year, the boys didn't have to look so far to get to some really great fire wood.
The group went on a long day hike up one of the slot canyons so Jared, Annie, and I stayed behind on the boat, got some sun and caught some lizards.
Annie LOVED playing in the sand...the water not so much. She wouldn't touch it and as long as Jared or I were nearby she was okay on the beach
Jared always likes to go on morning hikes. One particular morning, Annie woke up early and I wasn't feeling like being a "mom" so Jared scooped her up and went on a little hike.
Look at her face...she was sooo leery of that water!
Tender moment when Sam couldn't get to the beach because of a really bad injury on his foot from their hike so Jared piggy backed him to the other side....
Beach volleyball is always a hit. The guys spend hours digging out a flat spot so we can play.
Annie kicking her feet to cool off...
...soon realizing that Mom wasn't sitting right next to her...
"I'm all done mom!"
We took Annie for a cruise in the boat to try and get her to sleep for a quick nap...
Once Jared showed her this...
...this is how far her nap got...
The trip also consisted of some water volleyball, jumping and somersaults on the top of the boat with Lexie, going down the house boats slide with Lexie, laying in the sun, sleeping, playing games, etc....oh and a little bit of swimmin'!
I'm sad I didn't get more pictures than this but it was a really fun and relaxing trip, despite having a two year old on board. Annie is fortunate enough to be the first child among Jared's group of friends so they all just love her and spoil her to death. Taking care of her became a group effort and to this day, she still remembers the names of all the guys she met for the first time. They all can't believe it when, 4 months later, she still remembers them by name...such a smarty pants!
