Jackson Hole World Championship Hill Climb 2008

Well we went to Jackson Hole, WY this weekend to see the Hill Climb for the first time. I've got to admit it was one of the funnest weekends I've had in a long time. If you don't know what the hill climb is, it's a competition to see who can make it up the hill (and by hill it's really a mountain) in the quickest time. Since they have a film company that has the rights to the event I couldn't take pictures but thanks to youtube they've posted video from last years hill climb.
Go to this website to check it out: 2007 Jackson Hole Hill Climb
Jared and his buddies decided to be part of the hill help. Believe me, they save THOUSANDS of dollars for these riders. Some of these crashes are amazing. We saw a snowmobile t-bone a tree going probably 60mph down the mountain...not a pretty site for the rider.
So apart from the extreme cold temperature, the sunburn on my face which caused my face to swell so much that when I woke up this morning I couldn't open my eyes (I would have provided a picture but I feared you wouldn't even recognize me and besides...why ask for the mockery), and not to mention standing on a very steep hill from 8am-4pm, the weekend was a blast. It was worth it to see the hill help lunging themselves at these huge machines to save them and then even more exhilirating when the sleds went straight for the crowds, you've never seen so many people react so quickly in your life!
To some this may sound miserable and life threatening but I can't wait for next year to do it again!
p.s. in July I'm going to be on ESPN2 screaming into the camera when they air their footage!!!!

  2. Glad you had a fun weekend. I don't get ESPN so you'll have to remind me when it gets closer and I'll "borrow" someone's tv with ESPN on it. By the way, really sad they didn't let you take photos, that always makes me sad!
